Hidden away in parish cemeteries throughout the UK is a wealth of local and family history, although there seems to be little national coordination of grave-site record keeping and no generally accepted vehicle for doing so. Using a small churchyard in rural Devon as an example, this project seeks to provide a simple yet attractive template for computer-based parish cemetery records as guidance for others in similar parishes. It isn't intended for use by large public cemetery managers who will have their own solutions for the task. Headstone images are divided into groups to speed loading time. Also included are examples of links to local family history sites, which may be of interest to historians and local communities. To seek advice on developing a site for your own parish based on this template, send us a message by selecting 'Links > Contact' above.
